This is the story about a cow pasture in Crawford, Texas, not far from President George W. Bush's home. It is about people who hopped on planes, loaded up their cars, and bummed rides with friends to gather together in the Texas heat. Long before the country lost confidence in the Iraq war, these people spoke up. Mothers who lost sons, women who lost husbands, and Iraq war veterans who wonder why they fought.
Crawford, Texas is about a few people who have taken a very public stand against the war. Each has a unique story to tell about the consequences of this war. The film creates an intimate portrait of a handful of Americans, of the personal struggles and loss that the anti-war movement currently reflects. The film goes behind the scenes of a tipping point in American history and creates a nuanced understanding of the growing anti-war movement in our country.
This film is not another attack on the administration or a mockery of today's politics. Rather, it is a complex and thoughtful presentation of the perspectives of a few people, putting a human face on the statistics. It provides a "behind the scenes" look at the events that turned regular people, many longtime supporters or members of the military, into peace activists.
