From the 1950s through the 1970s, Miami was the fight capitol of the world, churning out scores of champions, and making local heroes of the young men who trained and fought in the shadow of The Greatest: Muhammad Ali, at the famed Fifth Street Gym. These were Ali's compatriots: young men: black, white, Cuban immigrant, southern-born and northern bred, who vaulted the restrictions of segregated Miami and the racial and ethnic tensions of the time, to forge lasting bonds inside and outside the ring. The Fight Years is their story.
