Liberty Warehouse: Past, Present, Future
Liberty Warehouse: Past, Present and Future is a portrait of the last standing tobacco auction house in Durham. Although designated a Local Historic Landmark, the building's poor condition led to a serious roof collapse in May of this year (2011). It was then condemned by the city and the tenants were forced to move out.
The documentary explores the historical role of the warehouse, it's subsequent time as low-rent space for artists and non-profits and their importance in the emergence of the surrounding area. The owners, Greenfire Development, have been reticent to announce their plans for its future. As the largest structure in Central Park, it plays a key role in the continuing development of the area.
