The Silver Rights Movement
"If you think about it, we are in our third stage of life...first we get 'Freedom' in 1865, then we get equal rights in 1969 — that was only a little more than 30 years ago — and now we are trying to get economic equality and economic parity...we are trying to get our 'SILVER RIGHTS'."
-Farad Ali
Vice President, NC Institute of Minority Economic Development
The Silver Rights Movement will use the legacy of Durham's Black Wall Street and Hayti district as a textbook to examine current economic disparities affecting African-American on a national level. This promises to be a film of the highest quality that will spark national debate on the economic history and current conditions of African-Americans in this country.
