Southern Doc Fest is a new one-day documentary festival in Durham, North Carolina, celebrating the creativity, power, and impact of Southern storytelling. As Southern Documentary Fund’s inaugural public film festival, Southern Doc Fest brings together filmmakers, audiences, and community partners from across the Triangle and the South to experience documentaries that reflect the people, places, and cultures that define our region.
For our inaugural festival, we’re shining a spotlight on documentaries made in, about, or connected to Durham. Together these films celebrate the city’s creativity, resilience, history, and the people who continue to shape its future.
The festival features compelling feature-length documentaries, short films curated by the PBS series Reel South, filmmaker conversations, and a live musical performance. More than a film festival, Southern Doc Fest creates opportunities for audiences to engage directly with filmmakers, spark meaningful conversations, and explore the stories shaping the South today.
Get ready for another 3 days of learning, networking and good genuine Southern community fun!
