AN UPDATE FROM SOUTHERN DOCUMENTARY FUND’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

kristy and chris

After two years as the Executive Director of Southern Documentary Fund, Kristy Garcia Breneman has announced that she will be transitioning from her role in mid-May.

During her tenure, Kristy led SDF through the unexpected challenges of a global pandemic by successfully launching and managing an emergency grant initiative to assist makers during that difficult time and expanding SDF’s reach throughout the Southern region. Kristy and her team have brought SDF to today, where we will be holding our first in-person convening since 2019. Staff, Board, filmmakers, mentors, and partners alike have appreciated Kristy’s enthusiasm and dedication. We wish her the best of luck in her next chapter. SDF will continue to move forward with continued direction from Christopher Everett, whose title will evolve from Program Manager to Artistic Director.

Over the next several months, the Board will be conducting a thorough search to find SDF’s next Executive to complement and support the work of our Artistic Director. It is our priority to find an experienced leader with a true passion for our mission to empower Southern makers to tell stories through Southern eyes. We appreciate your help in identifying candidates and welcome your support as we take these next steps. Please email us at board@southerndocumentaryfund.org.

Please join me and the entire Board in thanking Kristy for her service to SDF and commitment to our mission.

Sincerely,

Ellen Stolzman, President, SDF Board of Directors
