CLINT JUKKALA JOINS SOUTHERN DOCUMENTARY FUND AS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Southern Documentary Fund (SDF) today announced that Clint Jukkala has been named its new Executive Director. He will take the helm of SDF from Mark Sloan, SDF’s Interim Executive Director.

Mr. Jukkala comes to SDF as a noted artist, long time arts educator, and senior administrator in higher education. For the past 10 years he has been at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA), where he served as Executive Dean of the College. Prior to PAFA, Clint was a professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in Art at Yale University.

Clint brings to SDF his passion for the arts, coupled with strong nonprofit leadership experience in fundraising/donor engagement, management and operations, skills he has honed over 25 years running arts programs. He has been instrumental in giving voice and prominence to underserved communities, a focus that he will continue with Southern documentarians at SDF to ensure that all voices are heard and respected.

“We are delighted to welcome Clint to SDF. His deep commitment to educating and developing artists and managing programs to address their needs is aligned with SDF’s core mission. Clint’s successful track record in creating new strategic pathways that grow into important arts programming will serve SDF well as we look to expand our support of the documentary community,” said Ellen Stolzman, President of the SDF Board. “Clint’s background is the perfect complement to Chris Everett, SDF’s Artistic Director and an award-winning documentary filmmaker, who will continue to lead our artistic programming.”

As for his plans for SDF, Jukkala notes “I am thrilled to join Southern Documentary Fund and contribute to the impactful work of this vital organization. SDF’s firm belief that stories have the power to broaden perspectives, build community, and transform lives is at the core of its mission to champion Southern makers and voices. I look forward to collaborating with the SDF team as we work to expand access and opportunities for documentary makers throughout the region.”

“As we welcome Clint, the entire SDF community thanks Mark Sloan for his outstanding efforts as SDF’s Interim Executive Director.   We are profoundly grateful for his leadership over the past months,” Stolzman added.

Clint received a bachelor’s in fine arts from the University of Washington and a master’s in fine arts from Yale University. In his spare time, you can find Clint painting and spending time with his wife and daughter.
