These two facts are true: the U.S. imprisons more people than any other country on earth; and art is a human right. ART BEHIND BARS is a feature-length documentary that will explore the transformative power of the arts for prison-impacted communities through the narratives of three formerly incarcerated artists in the fields of visual arts, music and theater and whose shared experiences of incarceration through their art can help to change the public narrative about the criminal justice system.
