Occupy the Imagination is a two-fold multimedia project created by Rodrigo Dorfman. The project explores the stories of individuals who struggle to create alternative spaces of cultural resistance to our Western neo-liberal model of capitalism. The project mixes and contrasts stories from Chile and its history of revolution, repression and negotiated transition to democracy with the first year of the Occupy Wall Street movement. The first part is a feature length documentary now in post-production. The second part is a multimedia website that presents short documentaries, interviews and testimonials that will further engage viewers across the Americas in a conversation about what it means to reclaim both imaginary and physical spaces of resistance today. This project is a love poem that bridges my two homelands and re-connects me with my historical past; part of the golden thread that guides my vision of communal, cooperative storytelling for the 21stCentury.
