Over 400 years ago, the first attempt at an English colony in the “New World” mysteriously disappeared off Roanoke Island, North Carolina. Now known as the “Lost Colony,” the tragic story of John White and the 114 doomed colonists provided the basis of the longest running outdoor drama in the country and a cottage industry on the Outer Banks. But it was all based on a lie… Finding Croatoan follows Scott Dawson, a Hatteras Island native and descendant of the Croatoan tribe, as he single handedly tries to reclaim his ancestors’ narrative and uncover the truth about the Lost Colony of Roanoke Island. But he is fighting forces that have been profiting off of this mystery for 100 years, as well as competing against other archaeological teams to be the first to find the whereabouts of the Lost Colony. And none of them want Scott to be successful. Fortunately, his partnership with the kooky Dr. Mark Horton — archaeologist and TV personality from the UK — has given him a fighting chance of proving what he has believed to be true his whole life.
