Terence Blanchard has been an artistic force for over 5 decades, both creatively, and as a social activist. Early in his life, American culture told him that he would have few career options. But he refused to accept that racial prejudice would govern his life. His films, operas and music have resulted in 6 Grammys, and OSCAR, EMMY and BAFTA nominations. But awards and international critical acclaim could not heal the sorrow and pain he felt witnessing the continued injustice and senseless killings of black citizens. His response has been to channel his creativity to make an impact on society. This film, on how a Black Artist uses his music to address racial injustice will be accompanied by stories by those who have experienced racism, gun violence and social injustice and risen above biases to call for embracing cultural and racial diversity.
