TROUT TOURISM: THE STORY OF THE LITTLE RED RIVER

This 26:46 documentary project will use a participatory style as the director/producer Benjamin Garner moves home to Arkansas and rediscovers his home trout river and learns about the challenges facing the tourism industry and the management of this wild brown trout fishery. This film will explore the tourism industry, including featuring a fly-fishing guide service, one of the oldest resorts on the river, and a brief history of the dam. It will also explore the management of the trout population by the Arkansas Game and Fish commission and the impact of the (then) world record brown trout that was caught in 1992. The film will follow the director in his search to learn the river in a deeper way and appreciate what he had growing up. This film will be distributed through PBS stations via NETA and KTWU Topeka.
