SADDEST BOY EVER is a feature-length documentary film. While digitizing his family’s home movies, filmmaker Patrick Suzuki Mitchell discovers one recorded over by an episode of the Jenny Jones Show featuring a troubled boy without a father. Patrick uploads an emotional clip from the show to YouTube with the name, “Saddest Boy Ever.”
Years later he discovers that the clip has gone viral (120M views). Inspired by thousands of commenters, Patrick goes on a journey to learn what has happened to the boy, now man, since his TV debut. What Patrick finds is a story of intergenerational trauma, a crisis in fatherhood, and a hope that even broken families can be redeemed.
